COMPANY PROFILE
Statistics for Industry
Processes produce a lot of data, but it can be difficult to see what it is all telling you!
Statistics for Industry trains scientists and technologists in manufacturing, research and other technical functions to make the most of their data.
With a track record of success spanning over thirty years, we have been welcomed by hundreds of leading companies and organisations and have helped thousands of scientists and technologists to use statistical methods to improve their processes or simply to understand their data.
Through our range of general and specialised courses you will:-
- Conquer your fear of statistics.
- Be able to present your data so that you can see the patterns.
- Choose the right statistical method to use to answer a question about a process.
- Design experiments in an efficient and effective manner so that you use sufficient trials to obtain reliable information and don't waste resources doing more than you need.
- Use statistics to help improve and control a process.
- Decide on the sampling levels you need for sampling inspection schemes.
- Discover the statistical methods which are specially required in analytical chemistry, sensory analysis or microbiology.
Our Training Approach
Our courses are designed to show you how to put statistics to work - we won't blind you with theory! You will gain confidence in using the methods, as they are introduced by lecture, reinforced by tutorials and exercises, and put to work in an interactive case exercise. Above all, you will enjoy the course and be stimulated by it.
You will be encouraged through the course by two trainers, chosen to be on our team because of their practical experience of statistics in industry and their approachable, sympathetic and helpful style. Bring problems from your own work to ask the trainers for their free advice, including a consultancy session where we can work through your own data challenges. In groups of no more than 12, you can be sure of individual attention.
Interactive case exercises are based on real-life processes similar to the one which will be familiar to you. Syndicates compete as they design their own trials and analyse their own data, seeking to solve problems and optimise the process.
If you can Cut and Paste, you can do the sums
You receive a comprehensive course manual and all other documentation necessary. All tutorials and case exercises utilise easy to use computer software to take the pain out of calculations. Crunch, a set of Excel utilities, is used throughout and made available free of charge to course members as they leave. This and other programs enable you to put the methods learned into practice on your return to work.
Our open courses are detailed in the Open Courses page.
If you have several people who would benefit from our training, we will be more than happy to arrange for in-house training. This has the added advantage that it can be tailored to your own specifications, including case studies of your own and incorporating modules from one or several of our advertised courses.
